Meet Kwanele

Who Am I?
My name is Kwanele Khumalo, and I'm 24 years old. I consider myself an introvert, someone who finds solace in my own company. I have to admit that i am more of a short tempered person, which is why I often choose to spend most of my time alone to avoid any potential conflicts. There's something incredibly calming about solitude for me. During these moments, I can reflect, recharge, and regain my composure. Being alone allows me to find peace in my thoughts, and I truly appreciate the simple joys of my own company. I won't deny that I often feel lonely, which is why sometimes i talk to myself; after all, I am my closest confidant. I don't have many friends, and I understand that I can be a bit reserved, making it challenging for others to get to know me and befriend me.
Where I am From?
I come from a small village named Mangosuthu which is located in a small town called Paulpietersburg(Edumbe). It is a nice a quiet place especial during the day. I live there with my two sisters, brother and four niece. I was born and raised there.

Why I Joined Whakatau
Let's take a journey back to when I was young, I loved playing mobile games like GTA Vice City Stories and GTA San Andreas. As I played, I started wondering how these games were made, that left a mark on my brain. So, I did some research and found out about coding and programming. I fell in love with it. In high school, a teacher introduced me to computer science, and I found out about the jobs I could get with a computer science degree. But what really drove me was the desire to make my grandmother proud. She raised me, and I wanted to thank her by succeeding and having a good life. I learned that software engineering was a job in demand, and it made sense to me. I didn't want to pursue a career with few job opportunities; that wouldn't make sense. So, after finishing high school, I started studying Computer Engineering at UKZN. I got a taste of programming, but I couldn't finish my studies for some reasons. My goal is not just to have a better life for myself but also to make a difference in my village. I believe one person can change things, and I want to be that person. In short, I joined Whakatau because it was my last chance to achieve my goals and create a better future. This opportunity means a lot to me, and I'm here with determination to make the most of it.
